My third new flat graver in 27 years. This is what I use to tidy up the metal in the lip of settings. They eventually get shorter and shorter. The one at the front is the new one and I’ve just set it into its handle and ground down the length to almost half the original size. This is to fit the length of my thumb when I hold it. The handle sits in my palm and I use my hand to carefully push and cut the metal. They need to be an immaculately sharp and highly polished for best results. When you get one so sharp that it cuts like butter it’s very rewarding! #toolsofthetrade #handcraftedjewellery #handcrafted #tools #graver #handtools #oldfasionedtools #jewellerymaking
