This week I have had the pleasure of starting a remodel for my client wanting to reincarnate some family heirloom jewellery into something she can enjoy wearing today. Its at least the third design for these beautiful old cut diamonds. It’s very exciting to unearth them from their old settings and admire their original shapes. Each cut is unique unlike the majority of diamonds cut these days. Isthmus Earrings featuring round and cushion cut Killiecrankie Diamonds, Sterling Silver and Rose Gold. The narrow isthmus was formed by forging with a heavy hammer. The imprint of each strike was left intact to represent the natural formation of our Bruny Island Isthmus over time and the gold granules represent deposits of sediment. This sweet little ring needs s home. It’s such a tiny size so I thought if I put it on here more tiny fingered people might see it!! It’s a K1/2 to K3/4. Set with an 11mm Pacific Blue Pearl from Eyris Pearls in New Zealand in 9ct Rose Gold and Sterling Silver. It is one of my free formed ocean inspired designs. No filters on this shot! I just got this one back and about to do some stock rotation. It’s lovely to see this one again! The Killiecrankie Diamonds/Topaz from Flinders Island Tasmania came from a ladies lifetime collection from fossicking her whole life time there where she lived and passed. I don’t have many of her stones left. They are so special! The bigger one has that slight blue tinge and the smaller has delicate ice like inclusions. #killiecrankiediamonds #topaz #australianmadejewellery #handcraftedjewellery #handcrafted #rings

I finished these stud earrings last night. They remind me of Viking shields! The pic top left shows how many pieces it takes to make just one pair! They are each set with a 4mm Killiecrankie Diamond, set upside down so they are pointed on top. I have oxidised the metal and left it a bit rough to give an ancient hand wrought look. The back plate and pin is Sterling Silver and the settings gold.
