Fit for a goddess! I’m happy with how this turned out Yes more Killiecrankie Diamonds, Topaz from Flinders Island Tasmania. The Centre stone is exquisite! Big chunky flashy facets!! I have chosen the outside stones for their depth and slight inclusions which in themselves show a mystical antique hand cut old look. This ring looks hand made and will take on even more depth and character with age as it oxidises. Finished! 18ct gold with a total of 1.5ct diamonds from 5 antique rings. My client wanted me to make her inherited jewellery into something that suited her now that she could wear and enjoy. We kept the classic antique look with the beaded edge. Each bead was individually done one at a time! The diamonds range from old mine cuts to brilliants and all the gold in the settings and joining loops I recycled out of the old rings and we chose this beautiful belcher chain made in Melbourne. They are silver with the impressions of local rocks and fossils with a band of gold encircling both rings that I recycled from one old ring that belonged to Kate’s grandfather. The the rings were filled with so much love and wishes and good vibes as they were passed around everyone at the wedding. Totally amazing ceremony! Feeling the ️!! Unless you’ve made jewellery you might not know about this stage in my setting. I melt shellac flakes onto cut up lengths of broom stick handle and set earrings and pendants into it. When it’s cool and hard it creates a hand held tool which holds my work while I push over the edges of the bezels to set the stones. A little excavation is needed to chip away the shellac which is easy but the whole work area and myself ends up wearing it #setting #gemsetting #jeweller #goldandsilversmith #handmadejewellery #handcrafted #shellac

Happy Birthday to my beautiful 10 year old Tama️ I couldn’t be a prouder Mum!!!We went on a family fossicking mission when on Flinders Island this year and found some tiny Killiecrankie Diamonds. Tama was the best at finding them! I set this one with a tiny purple sapphire, birthstone for September with rose gold and silver. This is why I love to show people how much I appreciate hand crafted earrings. They might be small but it takes two of everything! And to be matching too. Each one has been hallmarked- that’s 10 stamps each pair! Each gold granule is weighed then melted to get the right size ball. The gold hooks are drawn to exactly the thickness I need…and these aren’t even set yet! I fit the stones perfectly with just enough setting hight to push over the edge of the stone. Then I bur a fine line inside the setting so the edge folds over the stone neatly. Then I can set the stones and tidy the edges…then there’s the polishing!!! Etc etc etc not forgetting the gallery paperwork, tax etc PHEW! And you always get someone saying “how come those earrings cost so much? A special piece I enjoyed making. Made with their three children in mind to pass on to them one day. Icy blue Killiecrankie Diamonds/Topaz set in rose gold and sterling silver.

This is a large 15 x 11mm Killiecrankie Diamond. Over 10 carats!! The Rose gold setting is slightly tapered which was a real challenge with this one as I don’t use a tapering punch for these, it’s hand done! A silver lining on the inside of the rose gold reflects the beautiful sparkle of the topaz. I have wrapped beaten silver wire around the setting which kicks up into a point at the ends.
