Just wanted to let everyone know that custom orders usually need 3-4 months to complete. I am a “one man band” and work within school hours 4-5 days a week and any other hours I can beg, borrow and steal. I also commit myself to supplying three beautiful galleries so that means I’m always working on many pieces at a time. School holidays are also a time I don’t get a lot done. Had a great day yesterday at the Hobart Lapidary Club Annual Rock Auction!! My first win was a big bag of lemons???? I also won a stunning little pair of faceted Tektites/ Moldavite from CZECH Republic and the box says they are 14,700,000 million years old! And my most wanted win, a box of Parrot Wing Jasper/Chrysocolla/Azurite/Quartz from Mexico. It is said to be the Goddess Stone and is apparently very rare! Lovely mint green Chrysocolla with Malachite, Cuprite & Quartz earrings. Quality rough stone from Arizona, cut and polished by me:) hooks are very short at the top so the stones sit snug to the earlobe. These weigh about 6 grams each. Very comfortable. Not too heavy but you can feel you’re wearing them. Quite light for their size. Set in Sterling Silver which is hammer marked and blackened in the deepest areas. This Blue Pearl and Diamond ring is another little beauty that also just arrived at its new home in California. Wow my jewellery has traveled further than I have For a lovely lady who chose this stunningly rich combo of Rose and Yellow gold together. The colour of the A Grade pearl is so captivating and vibrant against these metals! The blue diamond is perfect with this pearl! I just wish I could have captured its sparkle in the photos! It was a joy to work with my client and take the time to choose the right pearl for her! And a big Happy Birthday!The team at Eyris Blue Pearls were so helpful! SALE!! I totally love this pendant!! I would love to keep it but I would also like to find it a new home! This is one of three I made in the same design yet each one being hand crafted meant they were a slightly different. Set with a Center stone of White Topaz (unknown origin) The domed grey metal is titanium. It has a Matt brushed surface and some little blue/purple areas left from heating. They do show up well in these photos but it’s predominantly grey. The setting and outer rim and claws is Sterling silver. A beautiful contrast to the titanium! There is a very fine rim of 9ct Rose Gold around the stone. The small tube bail can take chains, cords etc up to 3.5mm thickness. The setting is held in place with three small claws which you can see at the back. I left the back of the titanium quite rough and left most of its heated colour. Really lovely!! 47mm including bail. 41mm wide. Was originally $600, now $395 plus post. The finished Varascite pendant. The rough slice of high quality Varascite originated from Utah USA. Another one I cut myself. Some very nice spiderwebbing going on here. Much lovelier in real life though! Love the contrasting greens with an almost taupe colour through areas. I’m very inspired by Victorian Antique hens the silver granules but in my own chunky style. Congratulations to the happy couple who had me custom make their super special Forever Ring️This totally mesmerising bi colour Killiecrankie Diamond is a rarity and was an absolute favourite of mine! So pleased it has found a wonderful home It has a band of blue running through which makes the colour change from pale Aqua blue to almost white. You can just see the band of blue in this photo. This custom ring was so awesome to make! Adapted from a similar design, my client chose these two Tasmanian Topaz, the smaller one is a Killiecrankie Diamond. We used heirloom gold from her grandfather! The rich 18ct a stunning contrast to the silver and the white stones. Oxidised for extra depth. The gold wraps all the way around the ring. I love Recycling family jewellery. Creating a piece which will continue to be enjoyed for many more years! Thank you so much Laura! Hope you are enjoying your new treasure️

Lune River Fern Trunk Fossil Pendant ready for the Mesozoic Jewellery & Art Exhibition to be held at The Goldsmiths Gallery, San Remo Victoria as part of the Creative Gippsland Arts Festival opening this Saturday! My creation is made of two species of Lune River fern trunk, imprints of fossil shell from the late Carboniferous period and texturing from Jurassic Dolorite Rock. All four from Tasmania! It will be accompanied by the book Lune River Fossil Fern Trunks By Ross Jones. Ross has been very generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge with me at the lapidary club. I was very fortunate to buy these fossils he found in the 80’s, the top one he has named after his wife OSMUNDACAULIS Janii. The big one is called OSMUNDACAULIS Pruchnickii. It’s set in Sterling silver with light hammer marks and a little oxidisation for depth and contrast. A lovely chunky piece Measures 56mm long including bail and 29mm wide. I’m selling this piece as a slight 2nd because of a barely visible hairline fracture which annoyed me at first although now I’ve set it I’m totally happy with it Beautiful stone! $180 AU plus post. A very special teaspoon I had the pleasure of handcrafting for a collector! I was delighted to have been given full artistic licence within the specifications that makes a teaspoon a teaspoon. The collector also requested my hallmarks on the stem. This piece is officially the my first piece off the bench stamped with the 2017 date stamp! I thought this would be a special treat to someone who appreciates hallmarks! The spoon takes 1 metric teaspoon:) I based the design on the same theme as the EDGE2 exhibition “isthmus” representing the geological formation, sedimentary deposits and shaping of Bruny Islands Isthmus, Tasmania which is also my home. I imprinted areas with local fossils and the beaten areas represent the weather beaten rugged landscape. Definitely one of my new favourite pieces! It’s so beautiful I think it’s a lucky stone and has to go in a ring so the wearer can enjoy looking at it.
